FINISHING OUR FURNITURE PIECES

We finish our furniture pieces by hand rubbing in three coats of our own mix of danish oil, mineral spirits and spar varnish, then paste wax.

The wood is machine sanded to 220 grit then hand sanded to 320 grit. Each coat of finish is hand rubbed in and allowed to dry for 24 hours, then hand sanded to 400 grit. The final coat is hand rubbed in and allowed to dry for 48 hours, then hand sanded with 0000 steal wool. Finally it is hand rubbed with paste wax. The Danish Oil / spar varnish / mineral spirits mix brings out the natural grain of the wood, penetrates into the wood to help seal it and and helps protect the wood.

This finishing process can be used with natural or stained wood.

STAINS

Shown here are the stains we customarily use with Clear Pine. From left to right and top to bottom they are Early American, Cherry, Red Mahogany, Walnut, Aged Oak and Golden Oak. The mounting base is Clear Pine with Natural Danish Oil. There are drop down menus for you to select a stain for our pine pieces.

These are representative samples. Wood is a product of nature. Grain patterns will be unique and will vary with each piece of wood, and even different sections of the same piece of wood. Actual finish colors may vary from those shown based on the unique character of the wood.

We will stain other woods at your request. Include a stain request in the comments section of the order at check out. We will do this at no additional charge.
