The drawer fronts are cut from one board so there is continuity of the grain across the the entire front. The rack fits onto a cleat that can be screwed in studs to withstand the heavy weight of winter coats. The cleat is hidden from view behind the drawers and allows the rack to hang flat against the wall. The use of knotty pine offers a cost savings. Many find the knots acutally add a bit of interest to the wood. We try to minimize the visual impact of any knots and make certain that the drawer fronts are knot free.
