Dust your furniture with a dry cloth or duster. If you use commercial spray cleaning products, spray them onto a clean soft cloth and then apply them to the furniture. A high quality paste wax (Johnson's, Min-Wax, Buthcer's Wax) should be applied a couple of times a year to protect the wood and maintain its luster.
